The Block's Scott Cam breaks silence on rumours he's being replaced by Jamie Durie

The Block’s Scott Cam breaks his silence on swirling rumours he is leaving the show and being replaced by former host Jamie Durie

He’s the happy-go-lucky TV tradesman rumoured to depart the hit renovation show that’s spruiked his career.

But on Sunday, Scott Cam debunk hearsay about him leaving The Block and being replaced by former host Jamie Durie, 50.

‘I have been at Channel 9 for 21 years on a permanent basis and I have got a few good years left in some contracts, so I reckon I am staying put,’ the 57-year-old told The Herald Sun.

Executive producer Julian Cress added that Scott, who began hosting The Block in 2010, was ‘an integral organ that without him there simply wouldn’t be a show’.

‘As long as Dave [Barbour, The Block creator], Justin and I are making The Block Scotty will be the host,’ he said.

It comes after  New Idea claimed last month that viewers were ready for a change in hosts, and that Jamie (who previously hosed The Block from 2003-2004) could be next in line.

The claims were largely improbable, however, given that Jaimie is already the host of The Block’s rival renovation program House Rules.

It comes amid rumours The Block will be filmed in Melbourne’s Hampton next year.

According to TV Tonight, the Channel Nine renovation show is going to be filmed on Bronte Court in the prestigious bayside location.

The affluent suburb is 14km from Melbourne’s CBD and is in the City of Bayside, which is the council involved with the current season.

Applications also recently closed for the 2021 season of The Block, but Nine is yet to confirm the location.

‘The Block will return in 2021 for an astonishing 17th season,’ a spokesperson said at the 2021 Nine Upfronts.

‘While we can’t say too much just yet, we can confirm that next year’s series will take place in the ultimate family-friendly setting of a picturesque suburban cul de sac.’
