The Block’s Mitch and Mark blast the judges over their ‘disrespectful’ criticism and claim they should be replaced by people with ‘talent’
The Block’s Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie have come out swinging against judges Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whittaker and Darren Palmer over their harsh criticism this season.
Speaking to Woman’s Day magazine on Monday, the stylish granddads accused the expert panel of being ‘disrespectful’ by providing ‘silly, unfounded’ feedback about their rooms, and even called for the judges to be replaced.
‘For Shaynna to make comments like ‘I hate it’ and then for Neale to say’ it’s better for our room to burn down… They know that people have worked really, really hard’ Mitch, 58, lamented.

Mark, 59, agreed, arguing that Shaynna, Neale and Darren are ‘out of touch’ when it comes to the property market and aren’t fit to dole out advice.
‘The judges aren’t real estate agents – they don’t sell in the market,’ Mark said, adding: It would be good timing for the longevity of The Block to bring in people who have new ideas. Fresh blood would be great.’
‘And some talent’, Mitch jeered, before suggesting he and Mitch should take over as judges.

However, a New Idea magazine insider claimed on Monday that Mitch and Mark struggled to accept criticism this season, claiming: ‘They felt they knew better and were emotional over any critiques.’
‘They like to think they are the judges,’ the spy claimed.
It comes after reports claimed Mark and Mitch wanted to quit the show earlier this season after being criticised for their ‘bland and generic’ guest bedroom.

‘They wanted out’: New Idea magazine reported last month that the pair were so angry at the judges’ feedback that they threatened to leave, but a producer managed to convince them to stay
New Idea magazine reported last month that the pair were so angry at the judges’ feedback that they threatened to leave, but a producer managed to convince them to stay.
‘Mitch and Mark were furious at how they were treated during the first week of judging – so much so they wanted out. Not even they expected this season to be so cut-throat,’ a source told the publication.
Meanwhile, The Block continues to be rocked by a ‘cheating scandal’ which saw several contestants gain an unfair advantage after seeing a picture of the production schedule.
The saga began when someone allegedly broke into Scott’s office and took a photo of the whiteboard which showed the series’ filming schedule – including the dates of each challenge, private tours and furniture consults.
Anyone who saw the photo would have the advantage of being able to plan their specifications weeks in advance or pre-order something for a specific room.
