Katie Thurston made her debut as star of season 17 of The Bachelorette on Monday with the assistance of show veterans Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe.

The 30-year-old bank marketing manager from Lynwood, Washington, was surprised before meeting her suitors by Tayshia, 30, and Kaitlyn, 35, who replaced Chris Harrison, 49, as show host after he made insensitive racial remarks.

Katie while waiting outside for the first limousine to pull up to the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico admitted she was nervous and lamented that there was ‘no one here to help me’.

That’s when Tayshia and Kaitlyn ambushed her and announced their presence.

‘Oh, my God! I’m so happy you guys are here,’ Katie exclaimed before going inside to ask Tayshia and Kaitlyn for advice.

They advised her to not rule out any of the men on the first night and warned her that everything would change once the first limo pulled up and she met the right guy.

‘I’m so nervous,’ Katie admitted as Tayshia and Kaitlyn moved inside to watch her meet the guys for the first time.

‘He’s hot,’ Katie declared after Aaron introduced himself.

The second limo delivered marketing sales representative Greg Grippo, 27, of Edison, New Jersey, who was so nervous that he could barely talk to Katie.

Katie during the cocktail party had fun playing hockey with Greg and said he ‘sticks out’.

She later grabbed Greg and offered him the coveted First Impression rose that has served as a reliable bellwether for success on the show.

Greg eagerly accepted and they quickly engaged in a kissing session.

‘I can’t believe I got this,’ Greg said after getting the first rose of the season.

The season premiere also featured several suitors trying to make favorable impressions with grand entrances.

Connor Brennan, 29, a singing math teacher from Illinois, arrived wearing a full cat costume for cat lover Katie.

Software salesman James Bonsall, 30, of La Jolla, California, arrived in a giant gift box and stayed inside of it out on the driveway and inside the party until he met Katie.

He finally jumped out of the box and impressed Katie who noted their strong eye contact.

‘James is super hot,’ Katie said.

Jeff Caravello, 31, of Cranford, New Jersey, skipped the limo and pulled up solo in a huge RV.

He later gave Katie a tour of his RV, but she was not impressed and admitted that she was ‘not feeling vibes’ with his RV.

Katie herself made a bold entrance earlier this year on season 25 of The Bachelor when she brought a sex toy for her first meeting with Matt James, 29.

Her sex positive outlook was brought up several times by suitors showing their sense of humor.

Justin Glaze, 26, of Maryland, told Katie he would ‘stroke it out’ with her and then revealed that he was talking about his painting hobby.

Some early drama also materialized as Aaron seemingly out of nowhere was shown telling Cody that he didn’t like him.

‘It’s not my fault I don’t like you. I’m just telling you what’s up,’ Aaron told Cody, who had no idea why Aaron disliked him.

The two-hour season premiere also included the first rose ceremony in which Katie sent seven suitors home.

RV guy Jeff, Austin Tinsley, Brandon Torres, Gabriel Everett, Landon Goesling, Marcus Lathan and Marty Hargrove were eliminated from the show.
