Ellisha Ford was shocked to learn that she was carrying a baby boy just hours before giving birth to him. The 17-year-old had a completely flat stomach throughout her pregnancy, remaining a size six for its duration and having no reason to believe she was with child.
The teen even went as far as taking pregnancy tests, all of which came back negative.
But when she went to the hospital with stomach pain, the last thing she expected was to be holding her firstborn baby hours later.
Doctors quickly informed her that what she was feeling was a contraction before ordering an ultrasound for Ms Ford.
It turned out that she was in active labour, 6cm dilated and 43 weeks pregnant.
Despite the shock of the pregnancy, Ms Ford has bonded well with her baby, now named Harper, who is happy and healthy.
Ms Ford, a college student from Leicestershire, said: “I had been shopping before he was born like usual and doing lots of walking it was all just normal things that I guess a nine month pregnant woman wouldn’t be able to do.
“My feet never swelled or anything like that either so I could still walk and had no pain. I still had a flat stomach so had no idea.
“But as soon as the doctor put pressure on my stomach my belly just came out – it was all really strange.

Neither the blood or pregnancy tests she took during her visit showed any signs of pregnancy, with Ms Ford being told that her pain was due to sciatica.
She added: “Three weeks later I woke up in the morning with a really bad stomach ache and went to the hospital and they did a normal pregnancy test and told me I wasn’t.
“A doctor did feel my stomach as I had a contraction and he told me that I was definitely pregnant but thought I was not too far gone and said I was probably just having a miscarriage.
“They then did a scan and couldn’t find him on the scan but then another doctor flipped the screen around and he saw and he just said I was actually full term.
“That was when I was in the delivery suite and it was just all really strange.
“My mum told me that she had had my brother when she was quite young and she just came into the room and said there was nothing we could do I would just have to get the baby out and stay as calm as I could.”
Baby Harper was then born, weighing 7lb 6.5oz at Leicester Royal Infirmary on August 2, 2020.
Ms Ford gained no extra weight during the pregnancy and maintained a regular routine of exercise and seeing friends, as well as having normal periods and not noticing anything unusual.
She said: “I think it was actually easier though because I didn’t have the nine months to get myself wound up over things.
“It was a case of I’ve got this baby and I’ve got to look after him.”
