As of August 4, Government figures show 88.7 percent of the UK adult population has been vaccinated with at least one dose. A further 73.5 percent of UK adults have also received their second vaccine dose. Although the majority of adults have been vaccinated to date, several adults are unvaccinated and in some areas of England, the percentage of people vaccinated is significantly lower than in other areas.

    First vaccine doses

NHS England data for December 8, 2020, until August 1, 2021, shows that the South West has vaccinated the highest percentage of the population with one vaccine dose compared to any other region in England.

The South West has vaccinated 79.37 percent of its population with one dose.

The region is followed by the East of England in the second spot, with 79.24 percent of the population vaccinated with one dose.

But not all areas of England are reporting such high vaccination numbers.

The North West has reported the lowest percentage of people vaccinated with one dose compared to all other regions of England.

Only 68.55 percent of the North West population had been vaccinated with one dose as of August 1.

The North West is closely followed by London for the lowest vaccination percentage, as London has vaccinated 68.78 percent of its population with one dose.

In total as of August 1, the NHS has administered 71,042,823 doses of a Covid vaccine in England.

In the third position is the North East and Yorkshire, with 63.23 percent of the population vaccinated with two doses.

London vaccinated the lowest percentage of its regional population with two vaccine doses as of August 1.

Only 53.02 percent of London’s population have been vaccinated with two vaccine doses.

The North West is only slightly ahead of the capital, with 57.10 percent of the North West’s population vaccinated with two doses.

    Vaccine rollout by age group

The NHS has broken down vaccine statistics based on age and local areas in England.

For people aged 50 and over, most local areas in England report a percentage of the population vaccinated with both doses as 90 percent or above.

But vaccination percentages are lower generally for people in younger age groups across the board.

Some areas are reporting percentages of people aged 18 to 24 vaccinated with one dose above 80 percent.

However, other areas are reporting significantly lower numbers of people vaccinated in this age group.

According to the latest data, Birmingham and Solihull has vaccinated the lowest percentage of people aged 18-24 in England with one dose, with only 47.4 percent of people in this age group vaccinated as of August 1.

Birmingham and Solihull also reported the lowest percentage of people vaccinated with one dose in England for the 25 to 29 age group, with 52 percent of people vaccinated with one dose in the area.
