Sons Of Anarchy player William Lucking has died at the age of 80.
The actor passed away at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 18th, according to an obituary posted by his wife Sigrid Insull Lucking and shared by friend Stephen Macht on Facebook.
In the tribute she described her late husband, who was known for playing the rugged type, an ‘elegant man with a brilliant intellect.’

The obit, in part, read: ‘Although William often played toughs and strongmen, in his actual life he was an elegant man with a brilliant intellect who loved to argue about politics and current affairs, discuss philosophy and physics and assert fine-pointed opinions about art and poetry.’
Insull Lucking, a former costume designer, went on: ‘He was a giant of a man with the soul of a poet, one who “contained…a tension of sorts within his being…like a boulder teetering on a hill…or a balloon expanding towards its extreme,” as one friend put it.’
Lucking was known as the gruff biker Piney Winston on Sons Of Anarchy, which he appeared in 35 episodes of from 2008 to 2011.
His resume also includes a role as Army Col. Lynch on NBC’s The A-Team from 1983 to 84.
Additionally he played the Bajoran Furel on three episodes of the syndicated Star Trek: Deep Space Nine from 1995 to 97.

Lucking was born on June 17, 1941, in Vicksburg, Michigan.
He and his family moved to California in the early 1950s and he would later go on to attend UCLA, where he graduated from UCLA with a degree in literature.
Nurturing his interest in acting, Lucking studied theater at the Pasadena Playhouse.
He is survived by his wife, daughters Marjet and Juliana, and granddaughters Quinlan and Lilian. His first wife, Mimi, died of cancer in 1996.
