OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER says he is “100 per cent” confident Manchester United will sign their top transfer targets this summer.
The Norwegian has hinted before the Red Devils are bracing themselves for a major squad overhaul ahead of the next season.
Solskjaer admitted after their Champions League exit to Barcelona that huge changes are needed if the Red Devils were to close the gap to top European clubs.
And, following the 4-0 drubbing at Everton, he conceded that the next season could come too early for his side to challenge for titles.
The Norwegian still hopes to secure a top four finish, but believes that making United competitive again is a long-term project.
But he is confident the Old Trafford chiefs will bring in the right players this summer, making a major step towards the club’s comeback to the football elite.
I have 100 per cent confidence that we can find the right players to come in and fit our mould of the personality and quality
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Solskjaer told Sky Sports: “Of course there are things that will happen and we’ll change things but you can’t do it overnight.
“I can see so many good things about this squad – things that we can improve on – and I have 100 per cent confidence that we can find the right players to come in and fit our mould of the personality and quality.
“You need stability, consistency, a long-term plan. Short-term results is always important because short-term gains make it easier to sell your long-term ideas.
“The work, the ambition, the drive in the coaching staff – both short- and long-term is unbelievable.
“We’re planning pre-season – we’re planning to get fitter – and in terms of the squad we’ll see where we feel players will be in two, three years’ time because you have to have that long-term planning.”
United have been linked with a £100m move for Benfica wonderkid Joao Felix.
