A group of 70 firefighters are attending a blaze in Broadway this evening as a flat situated above a shop in West Ealing has caught fire.
Local fire services announced that part of a four-roomed residence is alight, warranting a response from 10 engines.
Station Commander Colin Digby, who is among firefighters at the scene, said crews have closed the street and asked people to avoid the area.
He said: “The fire took hold on the roof extension above the shop and there is some smoke coming out from the edges of the building.
“Crews are using one of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders for elevated access.
“The Broadway is closed and there are currently diversions in place. We’re advising people to avoid the area whilst firefighters work to make the scene safe.”
