Fashion-conscious fitness fanatics are raving about a new style of ‘squat-proof’ workout tights which don’t turn transparent, no matter how far they’re stretched.

The remarkably affordable $39.99 ‘Love You A Latte’ leggings from Australian clothing store Cotton On are said to provide the same comfort and support as designer pairs more than three times the price.

Available in four stylish patterns, they have an ultra-high waistband that firmly hugs the stomach, sculpting the mid-section and glutes while you exercise.

Shoppers have praised the quality and durability of the material, which is made from recycled coffee grounds in keeping with the brand’s sustainable ethos.

Sydney fashion blogger Tina Abeysekara, better known by her Instagram handle ‘Trash to Treasured’, wore the tights to a recent Pilates class and confirmed they passed the ‘squat test’.

That means your underwear is not exposed when you do so, a common problem with budget-friendly workout pants.

Leggings from premium labels like Running Bare and Jaggad Activewear which claim to be equally ‘squat-proof’ cost between $109.95 and $129.95 – three times more expensive than Cotton On’s bargain design.

Comments on the brand’s Instagram account reveal dozens of satisfied customers who say they go straight to the store for all their activewear needs.

‘I honestly LOVE Cotton On tights, they’re so amazing for the price,’ one woman said.

How to spot ‘squat-proof’ tights

– They are thick enough that you can’t see through the fabric when you stretch

– They have an ultra-high waist that compresses and supports the stomach

– They move with you and don’t restrict movement when exercising

‘Cotton On has the best athletic stuff lately,’ added a second.

‘I have several of those tights. They are great, so high waisted,’ said a third.

The tights – which are available in sizes XXS to L – come in classic and red and white leopard print, a blue and green bubble pattern and purple butterfly spots.
