The young wrestler’s death was confirmed in a heartbreaking statement from her mother who said her 30-year-old daughter had “gone to be with Jesus”. Sara leaves behind her husband, fellow WWE star Wesley Blake (real name Cory Weston) and their children: Piper, five, and Brady, three, and a one-year-old boy.
Sara is best known as a professional wrestler and the winner of the sixth series of the WWE reality competition, Tough Enough.
Her mum penned on Facebook: “It is with heavy hearts we wanted to share that our Sara Weston has gone to be with Jesus.
“We are all in shock and arrangements are not complete.
“We all need prayers especially Cory and her children.”
Sara’s cause of death has not been confirmed. She recently battled what she called a sinus infection but said earlier this week that she was feeling well enough to work out.
She told her 102,000 Instagram followers: “Celebrating finally being healthy enough to go to the gym two days in a row. First ever sinus infection kicked my butt #Saraselfie #gains.”
Tributes have been flying in for the star while fellow wrestlers and fans have already raised £52k ($59k) to help her family.
WWE’s Bull Smith wrote on the fundraising page: “We’re all shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Sara Lee.
“As her loving husband, Cory, picks up the pieces and continues to raise their three children, the last thing anyone in that position wants to be worried about is money and paying for a funeral and everything else that comes along with it.
The official Twitter account for WWE also paid tribute to the late star, saying that she was an “inspiration to many”.
A spokesperson wrote: “WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of Sara Lee.
“As a former Tough Enough winner, Lee served as an inspiration to many in the sports-entertainment world.
“WWE offers its heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and fans.”
English wrestler, Saraya, also shared: “This is heartbreakingly tragic. Sending love to her family. Very sweet human who I got the pleasure to know and work with. RIP Sara Lee.”
Deonna Purrazzo, otherwise known as The Virtuosa, echoed: “Our hearts are absolutely shattered.”
And Chelsea Green penned: “No tweet or amount of words can bring back this beautiful human, but all of my heart goes out to [Cory] and their family.
“Sara Lee will be missed greatly. The photo on the left is how I will always remember her – laughing, smiling, carefree.”
