Camilla, 74, was the face of the awards ceremony today, publicised on Twitter by Clarence House’s official page. The post read: “Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Oldie of the Year Awards!

“The Duchess of Cornwall presented awards during the ceremony today, which celebrates the best of the older generation.”

A series of linked posts by the Clarence House Twitter account detailed: “For the last 29 years, @oldiemagazine has held The Oldie of the Year Awards ceremony to celebrate the achievement of those who have made a special contribution to public life.”

Another said: “Today’s winners included television cook Dame Delia Smith and Dr Mridul Kumar Datta and Dr Saroj Datta, who together have over 110 years of exemplary service to the NHS.”

However, the Queen had been nominated for the award herself – but turned it down.

A statement was issued on the Queen’s behalf to The Oldie Awards’ chairman, and broadcaster Gyles Brandreth. It said the award was rejected on the grounds that “Her Majesty believes you are as old as you feel”.

“As such The Queen does not believe she meets the relevant criteria to be able to accept, and hopes you will find a more worthy recipient,” the statement said.

“This message comes to you with Her Majesty’s warmest best wishes.”

The Duchess of Cornwall attended the awards ceremony on Tuesday at London’s Savoy Hotel, alongside Mr Brandreth.

Ms Mamata, in footage from “Diana,” the new series airing on CNN, said: “Camilla Parker Bowles left Diana a note saying: ‘Such exciting news. Love to see the engagement ring.’”

Ms Mamata labelled this a “power move”, comparing it to how 2004 film Mean Girls character Regina George operates.

Speaking to CNN, she commented: “That’s like a real mafia thug move.

“That’s So Mean Girls it’s unbelievable.

    “That’s a power move.”

Prince Charles and Camilla first met in 1970, at a polo match at Windsor Great Park.

However, the Prince of Wales became engaged to Diana in February 1981, after just six months of dating.

They went on to divorce in 1992, and Princess Diana tragically passed away in a car crash five years later.

Prince Charles and Camilla wed in April 2005, at a ceremony at Windsor Guildhall.
