Meghan Markle will be working as the executive producer on her new animated series “Pearl” written about a 12-year-old girl’s “heroic adventures” in which she meets influential women from history. Meghan released a statement which read: “These incredible producers will together bring you this new animated series which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history. David Furnish [co producer, Elton John’s husband] and I have been eager to bring this special series to light, and I am delighted we are able to announce it today.”
Critics of the Duchess have said that she does not have enough experience to take on such a project, but fans have defended her to the hilt, with one tweeting: “It will be easy [for Meghan] to produce because she was ‘Pearl’ at 11 years old.”
Others wondered if the Queen will be featured on the list of influential women that Pearl will meet.
Netflix struck a deal with the couples’ Archewell productions of an estimated $100 million in September last year, six months after stepping away from royal duties.
In April 2021 Archewell productions announced new documentary series “Heart of Invictus” as its first project with Netflix.
The series, close to Prince Harry’s heart, focuses on the Invictus Games – an international sporting event for wounded or ill servicemen and women which the Duke founded after returning home from the Armed Forces. The release date is yet to be confirmed.
As it stands, the Duke and Duchess have not completed any projects with Netflix almost 11 months into their contract. With such a huge amount being paid into their bank account each month, we want to know whether you think the couple have done enough to earn the millions they receive from Netflix?
