Rumours of a royal divorce increased after it was revealed the Princess will not attend the opening of the Olympic Games because of her infection.
According to Spanish news outlet ABC, several outlets suggest the distance between Charlène and Albert have left them “on the verge of divorce”.
In particular, the outlet suggests Charlène’s absence from the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics has hurt their marriage.
Grace Kelly’s son and his wife are passionate about sports: Albert has participated up to five times in the Olympic Winter Games in bobsleigh competitions and has been a member of the IOC since 1985.
Charlène is a former South African swimmer and participated in the Sydney Olympics with the women’s relay team in the 4×100 styles.
The couple has always attended the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games together up to this year.
