Royal Family LIVE: Meghan and Harry could christen Lilibet with NO family members in US

Circulating reports suggested that Lilibet Diana, the latest addition to the Sussexes family, would follow in the footsteps of her two-year-old brother Archie with a UK-based christening ceremony. However one palace insider reportedly said a UK christening “is not happening”.

Instead it is more likely that Harry and Meghan’s four-month-old’s baptism will take place at the Episcopal Church of the US.

Royal Family members such as the Queen, Prince Charles, and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are unlikely to attend the proposed stateside event, according to royal biographer Ingrid Seward.

She told The Sun that if Lilibet – the second child for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who was born in June – was christened in the US, “maybe” Harry’s friends would fly out.

She added: “I don’t think any members of the immediate Royal Family would have time [to fly over]. Their schedules are organised six months in advance.”

If the ceremony takes place in America, Lilibet will be the first of the Queen’s grandchildren or great-grandchildren not to receive a royal baptism within the church of England.
