A new US film centred on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping down as senior members of the monarchy has come under scrutiny from royal fans for the portrayal of a close ally of Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge. The televised film Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace, was broadcasted in the US yesterday and explores the “real details” behind the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to leave their royal duties behind.

Jordan Whalen and Laura Mitchell portray Prince William and Kate in the movie, and their right-hand woman is presented in an unfavourable light.

The close ally painted unfavourably snubs Meghan, and divides the royal brothers, with many understanding her character is based on Hannah Cockburn-Logie.

In real life, Hannah, the Duchess of Cambridge’s private secretary, is responsible for organising Kate’s diary and meetings, in addition to accompanying the senior royal on engagements.

However, during the film, their private secretary is “painted as a true monster” for a series of acts she completes against members of the firm.

The controversial TV film has also come under fire for its portrayal of William as a villain.

The Duke of Cambridge is portrayed this way for not speaking out on controversial racism claims made by Meghan and Harry during their explosive Oprah Winfrey interview last year.

Harry (played by Jordan Dean) berates William (played by Jordan Whalen) for “not speaking out on racism” after comments were made about Archie, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
