The race to the midterms elections is boiling up so much the fight over Congress could spill over into a full-blown civil war, a Republican voter said in a dire prediction. Zach Scherer, a lifelong Republican supporter, claims bringing back Republicans in both chambres and getting rid of Democrats is the only way Americans can reclaim their country. He suggested the proportions of a new civil war could equate the American Civil War, which killed an estimated 700,000 Americans between 1861 and 1865.
Sitting on the back of SUV with a Trump 2024 sticker on his vehicle, Republican voter Zach Scherer told Sky News: “I think it’s a civil war – I truly do.
“I think that’s the only thing that’s going to bring America back together after this election if we lose.”
Sky News’ US correspondent Mark Stone said: “That’s an extraordinary, frightening prediction.”
The Republican voter said: “It is, but look back in the old days, that seemed to fix it the first time.”
Mr Scherer said: “It’s not what I want at all but we’re out of options.”
Corey Check, another Republican voter, said: “America’s at stake. If we lose it, our country’s going to hell.”
“I’m fed up with all the bullc**p in politics. And we know that we need to have good, freedom-loving candidates in office.”
With only seven days left to the midterm elections, Democrats and Republicans are campaigning intensively to gain or keep control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The recent intrusion of David DePape into the San Franciso’s house of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the beating up of her husband Paul Pelosi, has hyped up tensions around political violence.
To fend off new potential attacks on political candidates, US security agencies issued a heighten threated advisory on the day the offender broke into the Speaker Pelosi’s property.
Attacks carried out by domestic actors pose the most serious risk to potential political targets, said a bulletin issued by Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, the National Counterterrorism Center and the U.S. Capitol Police.
The threat of violence has been fuelled by growing domestic extremism and individuals who adhere to these ideologies, the report added.
