Staying true to one of her oft-repeated sayings “If I stop, I drop”, her Majesty continues to be a bundle of positive energy. A royal expert revealed the Queen’s love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren is what drives her on in her old age. Ingrid Seward said: “Her family of eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren is what keeps her going”.
The British monarch spends as much time as she can with the youngest members of the Royal Family.
She often leaves them gifts and has been known to teach them how to ride.
‘Pony-mad’ Princess Charlotte has always been a favourite, according to Ms Seward.
Among her grandchildren the Queen is thought to hold particular affection for Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn.
They are the children of Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.
A palace insider said: “The Queen loves the fact that Louise and James relish their time at Balmoral, and she has become particularly close to Louise, who seems to have become her favourite grandchild, closely followed by James.”
Her Majesty’s extended family does not just include grand and great-grand children.

She has won various awards for her paintings, including the the Winsor & Newton Prize in 1988 and the Creswick Landscape Prize in 1990.
Her brother, David Armstrong-Jones, is a renowned furniture maker and 20th in line.
His company, Linley, makes bespoke furniture, upholstery, and interior design products known for their neoclassical appearance and use of inlaid woods.
