PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN are preparing a bid to try and sign Paul Pogba, according to reports.
It is understood the French champions are keen on the Manchester United midfielder and will rival Juventus and Real Madrid for his signature.
Los Blancos made their opening move with an offer of just £90million – but United are determined to get £150m if they decide to sell after paying £89m for him in 2016.
The official stance from the club is that Pogba is not for sale.
But according to the Independent, Qatari-owned PSG could provide him with a way out of Old Trafford.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has very close ties with the French side – which has also been one of the reasons Matthijs de Ligt is expected to join the club this summer.
And the two sides have been in discussions recently over right-back Thomas Meunier while Manchester United want to take Adrien Rabiot when his contract expires this summer.
The French midfielder, 26, was born in Lagny-sur-Marne, a suburb in eastern Paris so a return to his hometown would surely be a major draw when deciding on his next move.
After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well… I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.
During his post-season tour of Asia – where he played basketball and did some breakdancing – Pogba threw his Manchester United future into doubt by revealing he is ready for a “new challenge”.
He said: “Like you said, there is a lot of talking and a lot of thinking as well.
“For me I have been for three years in Manchester and have been doing great, some good moments and some bad moments, like everybody. Like everywhere else.
“After this season and everything that happened this season, with my season being my best season as well… I think for me it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.
“I am thinking of this – to have a new challenge somewhere else.”
Latest Paul Pogba news
Real Madrid remains the most likely destination with Pogba keen to work with compatriot Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu.
The issue for Real, though, is that they have already splashed £268.6m to bring Eder Militao, Rodrygo Goes, Luka Jovic, Fernald Mendy and Eden Hazard to the club this summer.
It means they are reportedly unlikely to spend more than £110m on Pogba but there were suggestions they could use Gareth Bale or Isco as a makeweight in a potential deal.
