Speaking to OK! magazine, royal expert Angela Levin believes their mother would be mortified.
She said: “Diana would be totally heartbroken.
“It was so important to her that her boys had a good relationship.
“They had such a unique life and so she wanted to ensure they’d at least have each other.
“If Diana were here now, she’d give Harry a telling off for breaking away, and she’d tell him to be there for William as he gears up to be King.”
During an interview with Oprah Winfrey back in March, the Duke of Sussex told the media mogul that although he loves his brother, the two had grown apart.
“We’re on different paths,” he said.
Ms Levin also believes that the brothers’ rift has been tainted by a lack of trust as it is feared Prince Harry will share his private conversations with the press.

However, it is still not confirmed whether Harry will make the trip back to the UK.
A source told the Sun that the brothers are likely to “move heaven and earth” to attend the event as they have spent years commissioning the statue together.
Speaking on the anticipated statue unveiling, Ms Levin added: “It’s a huge embarrassment that this joyous occasion is clouded by the current situation.
“I just hope it doesn’t take attention away from the extraordinary woman they are celebrating.”
