Series five of The Crown is set to be the most explosive season of the Netflix drama to date, with a new cast portraying the late Queen Elizabeth II and her family members. Princess Diana (played by Elizabeth Debicki) will feature heavily in the upcoming series, which lands on the streaming giant on November 9, but the Prince of Wales’ calls to cut out her bombshell 1995 Panorama interview have allegedly fallen on deaf ears.
The upcoming season will recreate parts of the notorious hour-long interview over two episodes.
In the series, a young Prince William is seen watching the interview back and being asked by one of his teachers at Eton College if he is okay.
His father, King Charles III, is shown erupting with rage as he watches the interview with Diana before he starts crying.
It was thought Netflix had cut the length of the scenes to “tiny snippets lasting just seconds”, according to The Sun.

“It effectively established a false narrative which, for over a quarter of a century, has been commercialised by the BBC and others.”
Ingrid Seward, Majesty Magazine’s editor-in-chief, who used to be friends with Diana, told The Sun: “William will be furious. He said his piece when he said it should never be aired again.”
She continued: “It must be very frustrating as he can’t say any more because it will just give Netflix more publicity.
“They should have listened to him. The interview has no credibility after the investigation. Everyone knows it has no legitimacy now.”
A spokesperson for Netflix said season five of The Crown will “dramatise events surrounding the Panorama interview, given the pivotal part it played during the time period the series covers”.
They added: “It will reflect what we now know about how the interview was obtained and how Diana was treated. The interview is not recreated in full.”
For season five of The Crown Dominic West will be portraying King Charles, Jonathan Pryce will play Prince Philip, and Imelda Staunton will replace Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II.
