The Duke of Cambridge stood for the national athemn before taking his front-row seat ahead of the game. The match is a belated birthday treat for William who turned 39 yesterday. Fans of William praised his decision to attend the game to support the Three Lions from the sidelines. One fan said: “Yes William, bring us some luck!”
Another fan tweeted: “Is Prince William singing God save the Queen the most natural thing ever or the most surreal thing ever?”
Another said his presence at the stadium meant England are “already ahead”.

The duke serves as President of England’s Football Association.
