Prince William and Harry tensions will make Diana statue unveiling ‘unbearably grim’

The statue is situated in Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden, where Diana used to spend a lot of time. It is being unveiled on what would have been Diana’s 60th birthday, had she not died in a tragic car crash.

Royal author Victoria Arbiter warned the event will be tough for her sons, following a shape deterioration in their relationship.

It will be the first time William and Harry have met face-to-face since Prince Philip’s funeral in April.

Writing for 9Honey Ms Arbiter said: “In light of the stinging barbs winging their way back and forth across the Atlantic and the increasingly acrimonious relationship building between Princes William and Harry, next Thursday, July 1st, is likely to be unbearably grim for the Brothers Wales.

“Had their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, survived the horrific crash which took her life over two decades ago she’d be celebrating her 60th birthday.

“Instead, her battle-weary sons are left to observe yet another milestone without their beloved mum by their side.

“The occasion was always going to be emotionally charged, but given the daily headlines exposing ongoing tensions, one can only imagine the unease they must feel as they prepare to reunite to unveil a statue in her name.”

Last year, Harry and Meghan stood down as senior Royal Family members and moved to California.

In March, they gave an incendiary interview to Oprah Winfrey, in which they claimed a Royal Family member had used racially charged language.

“Short and infinitely precious, it can be taken in a flash.”

During the interview with Winfrey, Meghan claimed “concerns and conversations” were raised about Archie skin tone, ahead of his birth in 2019.

She also revealed she had struggled to get mental health support from within the royal system.

Buckingham Palace released a statement on behalf of the Queen expressing sadness at Meghan’s suffering, but noting “some recollections may vary” about the events described.

Whilst visiting a London school William insisted the Royal Family is “very much not racist”.

Ms Arbiter expressed hope William and Harry could reconcile out of shared love for their mother.

The author commented: “If the brothers are unable to bury the hatchet for themselves, perhaps they’ll consider doing so for their mum.

“I can’t help but think if she were alive today, Diana’s greatest birthday wish would be to see a positive reconciliation between her two equally adored sons.”

Harry has arrived back in the UK ahead of the ceremony, and is quarantining at Frogmore Cottage.

Meghan, who gave birth to the couple’s daughter earlier this month, will remain in California.
