The Duke of Sussex is said to have enlisted the help of J R Moehringer, a Pulitzer-winning American novelist and journalist to pen his memoir. The book, which has yet to be titled, is set to hit shelves in late 2022, publisher Penguin Random House said on Monday.
Esteemed writer Mr Moehringer has worked for the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times.
After writing an article about a homeless man who claimed to be heavyweight boxing champion Bob Satterfield, his work was adapted as the basis for a film, Resurrecting the Champ.
In 2000 he was awarded a Pulitzer prize for newspaper feature writing.
Mr Moehringer has agreed a deal with Prince Harry to write his book, according to the Mail Online.
Some of his previous books include Andre Agassi’s biography, Open, and Nike co-founder Phil Knight’s Shoe Dog.
The Duke hopes to provide a “definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him,” Penguin Random House said in a statement.
Harry said he was writing his memoir “not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become”.
He added: “I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story – the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

In September 2012 he returned to the war-torn nation for four months as an Apache pilot.
Harry will donate the proceeds from his book to charity, the publisher said.
The book is Harry’s latest project more than a year after he stepped down from royal duties.
He and his American wife Meghan announced they were leaving the Royal Family in January 2020.
By March the pair had wrapped up their final engagements and departed for a new life abroad.
Last year they struck multi-million dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify.
The couple have celebrated a string of milestones in their new home in the US, most recently with the birth of their second child Lilibet.
The baby was the first of the Queen’s 11 great-grandchildren to the born outside the UK.
