Thames Valley Police (TVP) said in a statement officers were called to an address in Denmead, Two Mile Ash, at about 9.40am yesterday and made a forced entry after acting on information from a witness. Inside they found a man in his 30s who was later confirmed to be dead, as well as the child, who was badly hurt.

They also located a man in his 20s, with the force saying it was understood officers deployed a Taser before shots were fired at the man.

The man subsequently required first aid and treatment from ambulance crews but was pronounced dead at the scene, TVP said.

The young child was taken to hospital.

Police said the dead men’s next of kin have been notified, and that officers were likely to remain on watch outside the property for several days.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed it had received a referral from TVP and said its investigation was “at a very early stage and no further information can be provided at this time”.

The IOPC statement added: “Our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic incident.”

“We would ask anyone who has any concerns or information to please speak to one of our uniformed officers.”

Neighbours in a street where a man was shot dead by police have spoken of their shock at the “tragic” incident.

Residents of Denmead in Two Mile Ash, Milton Keynes, described hearing a “loud bang” and screaming after police broke down the door of a property at about 9.40am on Saturday.

Thames Valley Police said officers discovered the body of a man in his 30s and a seriously injured child inside the house.

A man in his 20s was also found in the property, and officers used a Taser before shots were fired at him. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Resident Tracey Sherman, 54, said she was “shocked” at what had happened in the “quiet area”.

She said: “This is a quiet area, nothing normally happens around here.

“We generally keep ourselves to ourselves but this is so, so sad, and I know everyone will be shocked that such a tragic thing has happened on our doorstep…

“We’re all now waiting to see how the baby is.

“Many of us would like to start placing flowers at the scene in respect.”

Members of the public with information have been asked to call 101 or report online quoting reference 20210626-0652 or if they wish to remain anonymous they can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
