Just a month after Citizen Kane was dethroned as the best-reviewed movie of all time, its predecessor Paddington 2 has also been knocked off the top, four years after its theatrical release.
After an 80-year-old review surfaced of Citizen Kane, knocking its Rotten Tomatoes score down to 99%, Paddington 2 was named the best-reviewed film of all time, since it had the most reviews (245) while still maintaining a 100% ‘Fresh’ score.
Over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, a critic named Eddie Harrison published a two-star negative review for Film Authority, dropping Paddington 2’s score to 99%.

While the review was published in print over the weekend, Harrison insisted that he reviewed the film negatively on BBC Radio for its theatrical release.
‘I reviewed Paddington 2 negatively for BBC radio on release in 2017, and on multiple occasions after that, and I stand by every word of my criticism,’ Harrison said.
‘This is not my Paddington Bear, but a sinister, malevolent imposter who should be shot into space, or nuked from space at the first opportunity,’ he continued.

The critic called the beloved title bear, ‘Over-confident, snide and sullen,’ adding, ‘this manky-looking bear bears little relation to the classic character, and viewers should be warned; this ain’t yo mamma’s Paddington bear, and it won’t be yours either.’
‘Maybe if you’ve never seen the tv show and don’t know any better, this’ll work, but long-term Paddington fans will find this too much to bear,’ he concluded in his review.
Despite its strong critical reception, Paddington 2 didn’t make too much noise at the domestic box office, with just $40.8 million from the North American box office.

However, the foreign box office fared much better with over $187 million for a global take of $227.9 million from a $40 million budget.
As for the best-reviewed movie title, the movie that now has the most reviews at 100% is the 2018 film Leave No Trace, with 238 reviews.
That is followed closely by the 1999 Pixar sequel Toy Story 2, which has 100% from 169 reviews.

Rotten Tomatoes released a list of its ‘100 Club’ films last year, which all have at least 40 reviews or more.
Among the more modern 100% offerings are James Cameron’s 1984 sci-fi/action masterpiece The Terminator, the 1993 drama Searching for Bobby Fischer, Richard Linkater’s 1995 classic Before Sunrise, Pixar’s 1995 animated classic Toy Story.
The list also features classics such as 1925’s Battleship Potempkin, 1940’s The Grapes of Wrath, 1941’s The Maltese Falcon, 1956’s Seven Samurai, 1957’s 12 Angry Men, 1957’s The 400 Blows, 1967’s Cool Hand Luke, 1971’s The Last Picture Show and 2008’s Man on Wire.
