Noel Gallagher admits he would 'knife' brothers if he had to write a song in the studio with them 

Noel Gallagher has admitted that he would end up ‘knifing’ his brothers if he ever had to write a song in the studio with them.

The 54-year-old guitarist, who was in the band Oasis with his younger brother Liam, 48, insisted during an appearance on Worldwide FM at the end of May that he couldn’t think of anything worse than creating a song with him.

He previously made seven studio albums with the band, before one final fight ended Oasis in 2009.

Noel said: ‘It’s a gift to co-write … I’d kill my f****ing two brothers if I had to write a song with them, I’d f***ing knife the pair of them.’

He added that sitting with someone in a room to write a song was a ‘special talent’ that he ‘wasn’t born with’.  

‘It’s a gift, and it’s something that I really struggle with, my skill set lies in being the kind of lone wolf songwriter,’ he added.

Noel, who also has an older brother Paul, made his comments on Worldwide FM while discussing his life-long passion for the Bee Gees.

He admitted that he is amazed by the fact that the brothers, Robin, Barry and Maurice Gibb, were able to work together and co-write for so many years without having the bust-ups. 

The singer added that he loves ‘the story of that band’ and that they were a ‘song writing machine’. 

He said: ‘It’s the melodies and the songwriting, but also the fact that they come from where I come from, and their brothers and all that. And it’s great songs, great voices, they’re just great.’

On Monday, Noel released new song Flying On The Ground, the second track from his upcoming best of album Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021).

The star said that the song was ‘the best thing I’ve released since the last thing I released’.

The album is released on Friday to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of his solo career with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Last month, the two embattled brothers came close to crossing paths as they both attended the Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto.

The result proved disappointing for the brothers – both life-long Manchester City fans, growing up supporting the team as children.

Both the Gallagher brothers have been regular visitors at Manchester City’s Etihad stadium over the years, with Noel also having been spotted celebrating on the pitch when City won the Premier League title in 2018. 

The brothers’ appearance comes after plans for a new Oasis compilation album and accompanying bonus disc of unreleased material have ‘been scrapped’ after feuding Noel and Liam failed to agree on the project’s direction.

The album was expected to follow the 2020 release of Don’t Stop…, a previously unheard acoustic demo recorded by Noel in the mid-2000s.
