Newcastle could steal Michael Edwards from Liverpool with three other options looked at

Edwards has been widely praised for his dealings in the transfer market since taking over as Liverpool’s sporting director in 2016.

His ability to identify the right kind of player at the right price while offloading stars for large fees has helped maintain Fenway Sports Group’s transfer strategy while pushing Liverpool to the summit of European football.

But news broke earlier this summer that Edwards would be stepping down from his role at the end of the season with no plans to renew his current contract.

Edwards’ deputy, Julian Ward, is set to replace him as Liverpool’s sporting director.
