The screen will remain black and not display the backup camera as it should do.
The screen may also go dark after 50 seconds which may not be enough time for drivers to make a manoeuvre.
The report said: “When Reverse gear is engaged, faulty software may cause the feed from the backup camera to fail, to be displayed in the multimedia/infotainment system’s display screen or the system may reboot, causing the image to disappear.”
Mercedes-Benz has confirmed all the models affected come from the 2019 to 2021 production run.
