Prince Harry and William feud ‘may never be solved’ says expert

The brothers are set to hold a joint engagement together next week as they will unveil a statue of their late mother Princess Diana at Kensington Palace, on what would have been her 60th birthday. Harry flew to the UK from his California home for the first time since briefly reuniting with his older brother at their grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral in April. Despite the pair being pictured chatting at the service at Windsor Castle, it has now been claimed by royal author Robert Lacey that William and Harry “started quarrelling again” behind the scenes.

William is believed to still hold “anger” over allegations Meghan bullied royal household staff members, which she has denied.

Mr Lacey said: “Some inching towards reconciliation seemed in progress, their watching friends dared to dream — as did the whole world.

“But those hopes were dashed within minutes of the siblings getting inside the castle and beyond camera vision. They started quarrelling again.

“There they were, at each other’s throats as fiercely as ever,’ relates one long-time friend with a tired and helpless shrug.

“The rage and anger between those two has grown so incredibly deep. Too many harsh and wounding things have been said.

“So there’s the bad news. The conflict between Diana’s two bitterly divided sons does not seem likely to end any time soon.”

It comes after Harry plunged the royals into crisis earlier this year with a series of bombshell claims about the firm during an interview with Oprah – including talking about his “spaced” relationship with William.

Mr Lacey claimed Harry has also been trying to reach out to his old friends and also his brother recently, despite his claims, but William does not appear to be ready to forgive either Harry or Meghan.

He wrote in the Daily Mail: “According to one of my sources, it’s been pointed to him that everyone has a difficult sister-in-law.

“William’s response was to nod his head in sage acceptance. Then suddenly he broke out angrily. ‘But look at the way that bloody woman treated my staff — merciless!’

Back in March, the Times reported that the Duchess of Sussex allegedly drove out two personal assistants and “humiliated” staff on several occasions before she stepped down as a senior royal.

Meghan has denied all the allegations.

It is believed to be the first time a member of the Royal Family has been investigated by the royal household’s HR department.

It was previously reported the Duchess had written to the palace asking for any documents, emails or texts relating to the allegations against her.

Lawyers for Meghan have also denied the bullying allegations, which came just days before her bombshell interview with Oprah.

A spokesman for the couple said at the time: “Let’s just call this what it is — a calculated smear campaign based on misleading and harmful misinformation.

“We are disappointed to see this defamatory portrayal of The Duchess of Sussex given credibility by a media outlet.

“It’s no coincidence that distorted several-year-old accusations aimed at undermining The Duchess are being briefed to the British media shortly before she and The Duke are due to speak openly and honestly about their experience of recent years.

“In a detailed legal letter of rebuttal to The Times, we have addressed these defamatory claims in full, including spurious allegations regarding the use of gifts loaned to The Duchess by The Crown.

“The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma.

“She is determined to continue her work building compassion around the world and will keep striving to set an example for doing what is right and doing what is good.”

Buckingham Palace also released a rare statement about the matter, saying its HR team is looking into the claims.

The palace said: “We are clearly very concerned about allegations in The Times following claims made by former staff of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“Accordingly our HR team will look into the circumstances outlined in the article. Members of staff involved at the time, including those who have left the Household, will be invited to participate to see if lessons can be learned.

“The Royal Household has had a Dignity at Work police in place for a number of years and does not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace.”

Express.co.uk has contacted Buckingham Palace and a representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
