Meet the stunning model and boxing instructor joining Australian Survivor: Shannon Lawson wants to ‘battle the modelling stereotype’ as she signs up to 2021’s Brains v Brawn season

Model Shannon Lawson is one of many contestants joining the star-studded line-up of Channel Ten’s new season of Australian Survivor.

The 30-year-old Aussie beauty has walked the runway at Miami Swim Week and shot campaigns for several brands including Seafolly, Rockwear, Minkpink and Running Bare.

But within her career, Shannon admits she’s had to battle the ‘model stereotype on a daily basis’ – telling The Daily Telegraph that’s exactly what she plans to do in the competition.

‘Being a model I am constantly facing rejection and tough feedback so there is nothing that I can’t do, and I feel pretty strong within my own skin,’ she said on Sunday.

‘Modelling is just a job and when you take off all of the hair and the glam and the outfits, you see me underneath and I do classify myself as a survivor.

‘I’ve got past family trauma and being in the industry that I am in, I’m a tough cookie. I wanted to challenge myself in the toughest game that there is.’

As well as modelling, Shannon is also a boxing instructor at Hustle Boxing in Sydney.

The upcoming new Survivor Australia Brains v Brawn season will feature a twist, with intelligent strategists who are outstanding in their field taking on buff athletes.

Shannon will compete on the show alongside award-winning author Wai Chim and AFL star Gavin Wanganeen.

A political operative named George, a prison officer named Dani and big wave surfer Felicity Palmateer will also be starring on the series.

The new season was filmed in the vast outback of North West Queensland.

It was announced back in February that this season will be filmed locally after Ten secured government funding to shoot closer to home due to the global pandemic.

The Location Incentive Program grant provided $3.9million for the reality show and is expected to inject a boost into the local economy.

Australian Survivor: Brains V Brawn will premiere on July 18 at 7.30pm on Channel 10
