Matt Hancock is expected to receive a hefty paycheque for his appearance on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, according to reports. The MP for West Suffolk was unveiled as a campmate on this year’s series this week, sparking reactions of surprise and disdain from many, including some of his own constituents.
The 44-year-old, who landed in Australia earlier this week ahead of the series starting on Sunday, is reportedly being paid £400,000 to take part.
This would make him one of the highest paid contestants in the show’s history.
A source told The Sun: “Matt’s pay deal with I’m a Celebrity is around £400,000.
“[It is] one of the largest ever show fees to have been paid out.”
It puts him just behind Noel Edmonds and Caitlyn Jenner, who were allegedly paid £600,000 and £500,000 respectively to be on the show.
Other contestants appearing in the jungle this year include DJ Chris Moyles, television presenter Olivia Attwood and former rugby player and royal husband Mike Tindall.
Although Mike Tindall married into the Royal Family when he wed Princess Anne’s daughter Zara, he is not an official working member of the Firm.

She added he was “profiting off his shocking behaviour”.
A spokesperson for the MP said that Mr Hancock will be making a charitable donation to causes supporting dyslexia “off the back of his appearance”.
They said in a recent statement: “Matt will be making a donation to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and causes supporting dyslexia off the back of his appearance.”
The spokesperson further commented: “He will also declare the amount he receives from the show to Parliament to ensure complete transparency, as normal.”
