Sam Kerr has split with her longtime girlfriend Nikki Stanton, a new report claims.
The Australian Matildas player and her American partner are believed to have called it quits ahead of the soccer team heading to the Tokyo Olympics.
The pair, who had been together since 2014, had ‘fallen out of love’, The Daily Telegraph reported on Friday.

The couple’s long-distance relationship was reportedly a factor, with Nikki playing for the Chicago Red Star in the United States while Sam is based in the UK.

A source reportedly in the Olympic Village says that Kerr, who is in Tokyo to compete with the Matildas, is in good spirits.

Kerr has dealt with homophobia over the relationship, and was targeted by a vile troll online after leading Australia to a come-from-behind win at the World Cup.
She later posted a tweet she received from a homophobic troll who called her a ‘dyke’.

‘By the way your dyke a** was offside,’ the tweet read.
Twitter responded to the troll who tweeted at Kerr, telling her they had ‘escalated this report’
‘Sorry this happened,’ a Twitter spokesperson said.
