An “unknown white powder” was reportedly delivered in an envelope to an office block in the street. Photos from the scene show forensic workers, paramedics and police officers. Piccadilly Gate, a 10-storey building housing multiple government agencies, has been evacuated.
Greater Manchester Police tweeted: “We are currently dealing with an ongoing incident on Store Street, Manchester City Centre.
“Store Street is closed between London Road & Jutland Street, with a police cordon in place.
“Please can you avoid the area whilst emergency services are dealing with this incident. Sgt K.”
