“Everybody knows that if Conte had gone to United they would liven up,” Jordan told talkSPORT. “There’s no two ways about it, but Neville was talking about: ‘Oh, here we go, we don’t want Conte in here, he comes in, he’s only here for a couple of years and he breaks up football clubs’.
“If you haven’t got the here and now, you haven’t got a future either. Conte would have been in the door, and my God, they would be alive now. And that’s [Neville] the town cryer, the one that people have been listening to.”
However, with United now able to move level on points with Conte’s side and Ten Hag’s side looking like a capable football team, Neville will feel vindicated in his assertion that Conte was never the right fit, as the 53-year-old faces questions about his future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
