Man Utd insiders let slip how many signings Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to make

Manchester United boss Solskjaer is looking to strengthen the squad this summer, with the transfer window set to be a pivotal one at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are eager to rebuild after a nightmare campaign that has seen them sack Jose Mourinho and fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Manchester United are understood to have a variety of names on their transfer wishlist with Jadon Sancho, Declan Rice, Youri Tielemans and Aaron Wan-Bissaka just a few of the players on their radar.

And ESPN claim that source have told them that Solskjaer is likely to make at least five signings.

The Red Devils boss feels he needs reinforcements in every area – goalkeeping aside.

United need a top-class centre-back to partner Victor Lindelof with Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane on their radar.

Wan-Bissaka is being eyed to replace Antonio Valencia at right-back.

And, in the middle of the park, United also need to splash the cash.

Under Herrera today confirmed he would be leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season, with Ligue 1 giants PSG poised to snap him up.

Tielemans, Rice and Sporting Lisbon powerhouse Bruno Fernandes have all been backed to make the move.

And United may also end up signing another forward.

Sancho has caught the eye at Borussia Dortmund this season with the 18-year-old enjoying a remarkable campaign.

Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi has also been linked, particularly should the Serie A giants sign Romelu Lukaku.

Solskjaer, meanwhile, has suggested United will be landing exciting players this transfer window.

“I don’t think we’ve ever been a ready-made club,” he said.

“(Cristiano) Ronaldo was not ready-made, (Wayne) Rooney was not ready-made.

“Loads of players have come here and developed into the top superstars they’ve become.

“It’s always going to be the model here that we develop players because we have the best staff, the best environment, the best supporters.

“If there’s anything they love, it’s players that excite them, players that get them off their seats and we hope to get some of them in.

“I’ve worked with the club, recruitment, with the analysis department, we’ve identified some players we think will fit the Man United squad.

“The earlier you can do the transfers, the better it is because when you come on July 1, you want to have a nice picture of what this team is going to be looking like.”
