Cristiano Ronaldo’s swift Old Trafford exit ‘didn’t make a ripple’ in the Manchester United home dressing room as Erik ten Hag’s players celebrated their 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Wednesday evening, reports claim. The Red Devils were at the top of their game as they successfully dispatched Antonio Conte’s side 2-0 courtesy of goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes to close the gap on their fellow top-four rivals.
United dominated proceedings from the first whistle as Spurs were left stunned by the hosts after failing to get out of first gear.
Fred squeezed home the opener just after the break with help from a deflection before Fernandes curled home a peach to double his side’s advantage.
Yet unfortunately for Ten Hag, the result was somewhat soured by the petulance of Ronaldo, who stormed off down the tunnel before the final whistle had even sounded after he was left on the bench by the Dutchman.
The Athletic are now reporting that Ronaldo actually left Old Trafford before the end of the match, purely out of frustration.

He later added: “I certainly do not condone this. We are a team and we stay together until the end.”
Lisandro Martinez also refused to be drawn on the incident, stating he was too busy enjoying the result.
He told Viaplay: “I didn’t see anything. I don’t know. I only enjoy with the people, we won, and that’s important.”
Ronaldo has started just three of United’s 10 Premier League matches this season as his second spell at Old Trafford seemingly dwindles to a miserable close.
The Portuguese superstar has recently enjoyed a run of matches in the side, featuring in Europa League clashes with Omonia and Premier League games against Everton and Newcastle.
He came off the bench early in the first half at Goodison Park to net his 700th club career goal in a 2-1 victory.
United are not up to fifth in the Premier League table and are just one point adrift of fourth-place Chelsea ahead of this weekend’s meeting at Stamford Bridge.
