Kent Police have been forced to act with a group of protesters blocking the roundabout at Junction 3 of the M25 (Swanley Interchange). They have drivers of delays as they remove the protesters and reopen the roundabout. The police force wrote on Twitter: “We are currently in attendance at J3 of the M25 (Swanley Interchange) due to a group of protesters blocking the roundabout.
“Please expect delays and find alternative routes if possible whilst we work with @HighwaysSEAST to remove the protesters and reopen the roundabout.”
The latest protests have sparked a furious reaction from increasingly frustrated motorists.
Replying to the tweet from Kent Police, @felixsfavcatboy wrote: “I swear do they not realise that by protesting on a main road with cars that will most likely give off carbon dioxide etc will make global warming worse?
“If they wanna protest that’s completely fine, but maybe not on a main road? It’s common sense really.”
Twitter user @netmnp commented: !It is not fair to ask motorists to expect delays or take alternative routes.
“Why it takes you longer than 10 minutes to arrest all the protestors and get the traffic flowing?”
Another Twitter user, @siradammorgan, added: “And now I’m going to be over an hour late for work.”
