‘That’s our next step’: Love Island’s Olivia and Alex Bowen are ready to welcome their first child – and are no longer ‘worried about contraception’

They are one of Love Island’s biggest success stories, having placed second in the 2016 season and tying the knot two years later.

And in an interview with The Sun this week, Olivia revealed she and husband Alex Bowen, 30, are ready to take the next step in their relationship and welcome a child.

The 27-year-old beauty admitted back in January that they had postponed their baby-making plans due to the uncertainty of the pandemic and life in lockdown.

‘We’ve been talking about kids recently. We’d love to have one in the near future, which I don’t think we were ready for before,’ Olivia confessed to the publication.

‘It was a bit of a revelation – I’ve got a picture of us when we decided that we’d not worry about contraception any more,’ the influencer continued.

Olivia went on to say that they aren’t putting ‘any pressure’ on themselves to conceive, but is very much looking forward to the future.

‘I feel like I’m such an un-motherly person, but suddenly something changes. You just grow up. We’ve got so much to look forward to,’ she said.

Months prior in January, Olivia confessed to fans that while they were thinking about having a baby, they postponed their plans due to the coronavirus pandemic.

During a fan Q&A on her Instagram Stories, the reality star admitted the world ‘scares’ her right now and so decided to put off starting a family.

Olivia said in the video: ‘We were thinking abut it and then things just kinda changed, especially with lockdown still happening and the world being so unknown, I put it off. I also have to go to New York for two months so…’

The tattooed bombshell elaborated further on her thoughts on becoming pregnant during lockdown and said: ‘The world scares me right now so we postponed.

‘I know what I’m like and I know I wouldn’t be good at being pregnant during lockdown I don’t think!’
