Love Island’s first disabled contestant Hugo Hammond has admitted to ‘booting out’ women half-way through the night so he can ‘get his beauty sleep in’.

Referring to the act of kicking a partner out of his bed in the middle of the night as a ‘half-night stand’, Hugo, 24, said in a new interview shared on the hit show’s Instagram: ‘I am the inventor of something that I like to call the half-night stand.’

The soon-to-be TV star, who was born with a club foot, added: ‘I like my own bed and waking up by myself in the morning so I either have to do a runner or I have to boot them out so I can enjoy the rest of my evening and get my beauty sleep in.’

Introducing himself in the shoot clip, Hugo said: ‘Hi my name’s Hugo, I’m 24 and I’m a PE teacher from Hampshire. I would definitely say that I am a cool teacher.’

He then joked: ‘I have never asked a girl to call me Mr Hammond. I don’t think I could do it without laughing.’

Saying he was now ready to settle down in a long term relationship, the teacher added: ‘I’m definitely ready to settle. I am a relationship kind of guy, mixed in with a little bit of chaos in between.’

Hugo also said that his mother ‘knows everything’ about his dating history and that it is important she approves of any future girlfriends.

‘My mother knows everything about my dating history,’ he revealed.

‘When I meet a girl I definitely have to think about whether my mother would be very accepting of her, so it crosses my mind whether she will get the seal of approval.’

Ending on a high night, Hugo added: ‘It’s definitely going to be a Mr Hammond summer – no bad intention, top marks – that’s the dream.’

It comes after MailOnline exclusively obtained an unearthed video of Hugo during his university days, in which he brands himself ‘a massive sha***r’.

In the clip, the PE teacher is seen boasting to a group of male pals about his prowess in the bedroom, while holding a champagne glass at a house party in 2019.

    Hugo brags: ‘I’m a sha***r, a fine s*****r. I’m a sha***r, my friends.’

Hugo studied sports coaching at Oxford Brookes university where, according to pals, he considered himself a ‘BNOC’ – Big Name On Campus – and put partying before his studies.

A friend said: ‘Hugo really thought he was the bees’ knees and aimed to make a name for himself at university.

‘He’s bragged about his female conquests but they certainly weren’t the ones bragging afterwards.

‘Hugo was a divisive figure to say the least, some people liked him, while others thought he was just a posh k******d.’

Hugo met ex-girlfriend Millie Simmons at university and the pair dated for two-and-half-years.

It’s been reported they split months ago, but Hugo’s pal claims they broke up shortly before he found out he was going on Love Island.

The pal explains: ‘They didn’t split up that long ago. He sees Love Island as a way of getting famous and opening up opportunities so had to be single before going in.

‘He asked Millie to run his social media account during his time in the villa but she flatly turned down his offer, unsurprisingly.’

Hugo, who played cricket for England PD (Physical Disability) before teaching PE to secondary school children, was born with a short Achilles heel and had several operations as a youngster.

His pals say he never let his disability get him down and he’s even more confident now he’s had a ‘glow-up’ since leaving university.

The pal added: ‘It means he walks on his toes, so it looks like he bounces slightly. But he’s never let it affect his confidence at all.

‘He didn’t look like he does now at university, he’s definitely had a ‘glow-up’ by putting on all that muscle.’

Asked how he would fare in Love Island, his pal replied: ‘He’ll be timid at first but it won’t be long until you see his true colours and his arrogant side. If he’s not picked early on, he will be gutted.’

The Hampshire-based hunk says he’s entered the ITV show to put himself ‘back out there’, claiming he found dating difficult during lockdown.

He said: ‘I’ve been single for a while now. With the current climate, it’s been really hard to get back into dating.

‘I saw it as an opportunity to have an amazing fun summer and put myself back out there.’

Joining him inside the famous villa in Mallorca include OnlyFans model Shannon Singh, 22, luxury events host Aaron Francis, 24, Nando’s waitress Liberty Poole, 21, fashion blogger Kaz Kamwi, 26, and footballer Toby Aromolaran, 22.
