Love Island reunion 2021: Jake misses out on show ‘as he isn’t feeling well’ but still manages to shock viewers as his VERY awkward date with ex Liberty is aired
Jake was not present during Sunday’s Love Island reunion, with host Laura Whitmore revealing at the beginning of the special: ‘Jake can’t be with us as he isn’t feeling well this evening.’
However, the water engineer’s awkward pre-recorded date with his ex Liberty was aired, with Jake leaving viewers unhappy after he told the blonde bombshell: ‘Even if we were together, it wouldn’t work because I’m so busy.’
Sipping on cocktails while overlooking London, Liberty appeared slightly bemused by her former flame’s comments, as did many social media users, who took to Twitter to say: ‘Jake has no manners. Too busy doing what exactly?’

A second asked: ‘Did Jake just say he was busy? After choosing to come on the show?’
Another added: ‘Not Jake already trying to act busy and that’s the reason they’re not together,’ with a fourth tweeting: ‘Oh, Jake [is] too busy now? With what exactly?’
‘How is Jake saying even if they stayed together, it wouldn’t work because he’s too busy… then why go on love island?’ queried a fifth social media user.
Liberty dramatically left the villa just days before the final after splitting with her then boyfriend Jake.

Elsewhere on Sunday’s reunion, winners Liam and Millie were reunited with the Welsh bricklayer’s former Casa Amor flame Lillie.
The situation quickly turned awkward, with Lillie insisting Millie and her boyfriend are ‘a picture perfect couple’ after Millie was made to watch uncomfortable footage of the moment she found out Lillie and Liam had shared a kiss.
Trying to smooth over the situation as the trio were interviewed by host Laura Whitmore, Liam told Lillie: ‘You’re a nice person, I’m a nice person. We can be friends, how’s that?’ while Millie sat in silence.
Social media: People rushed to social media to leave comments including: ‘Jake has no manners. Too busy doing what exactly?’
Faye and her boyfriend Teddy were also the subject of on-air awkwardness and were asked about their explosive row in August, an incident that racked up a record-breaking 24,763 Ofcom complaints and prompted viewers to demand Faye’s removal from the villa.
After watching footage of her expletive-ridden rant, Faye admitted: ‘I would have been complaining about it too. Not my finest moment.’
Chloe was later asked why none of the girls spoke up during the argument, with the bombshell telling Laura: ‘We were terrified. No one wanted to get in the way.’
