Priya Gopaldas and Brett Staniland have been dumped from the Love Island villa after being voted the least compatible villa during Monday’s tense episode.

The pair learned their fate after the viewers had voted for their favourite pair after being in the vote alongside Jake Cornish and Liberty Poole, Faye Winter and Teddy Soares and Mary Bedford and Aaron Simpson – with the duo receiving the fewest votes.

Priya and Brett landed in the bottom two alongside Liberty and Jake, with their exit coming just hours after Priya friendzoned Brad for giving her ‘the ick’.

And while the pair looked disappointed to be leaving after such a short stint in the Mallorcan abode, the relief was palpable on the rest of the islanders faces.

Following their exit, Priya cheerfully remarked: ‘My time in the villa has been very fun, I met some very unique characters!

While despite having earlier been friendzoned by the medical student, Brett told how the pair planned to go out together, saying: ‘we might have a date when we get back.’

Priya appeared to confirmed that their date won’t be in a romantic sense however, as she quickly added: ‘We’ll definitely be friends.’

Prior to their exit, Brett had confronted Priya for telling the rest of the girls that she found him ‘boring’ and had ‘the ick’, remarking that it wasn’t nice that everyone but him knew how he felt.

He told her that he was ‘disappointed’ in the way she behaved, with a guilty Priya then apologising as they agreed they would keep trying with their relationship.

However, the next morning Priya admitted that she still felt the same way and they agreed to be friends.

Her doubts may have sealed their fate however as just hours later they were given the boot.

Speaking in her exit interview, Priya said of her elimination: ‘I feel like I’ve made lifelong friendships with a lot of the girls. But because Brett and I were the only friendship couple there, it was inevitable that we were going to leave.

‘I’m glad that all the other couples in there are super solid and they have a chance to stay, it’s only fair they stayed and we left.’

On what went wrong between herself and Brett, she added: ‘All the other couples were getting on really well and were really solid and that put a lot of pressure on Brett and I.

‘I felt maybe the conversation wasn’t as fun and flirty as I would have hoped. I felt like he was more reserved than I am. I’m looking for someone who wants to get out of their comfort zone all the time, like jumping out of planes with me.

‘I think Brett was a little bit in his shell during our time in the Villa so I didn’t get a true reflection of his personality.’

Meanwhile, Brett said of Priya: ‘It’s totally fine, now both of us taking a little bit of a step back will actually help our relationship, whether we do just remain friends in the future or we try and date or whatever. I think it will be beneficial for us.’

Pressure: On what went wrong between herself and Brett, she added:'All the other couples were getting on really well and were really solid and that put a lot of pressure on Brett and I'

On if he would like to continue things romantically, he added: ‘Yes, but I’d need things to be a bit different. I would love to keep getting to know her and date her properly, but equally I’d need a different dynamic.

‘I’d need more from her, I need effort from her. I want her to plan stuff. Even just a simple thing like a run and coffee date. Just so it feels that reassurance that she also wants to be there and do stuff with me.’

Elsewhere, during the show, things were tense in the villa as the couples speculated about who could have put them up for the viewer vote.

Future: On if he would like to continue things romantically, he added:'Yes, but I’d need things to be a bit different. I would love to keep getting to know her and date her properly, but equally I’d need a different dynamic'

And it was clear to see that everyone was walking on eggshells as Faye repeatedly discussed the vote, telling the girls that she will see those who voted for her as ‘two-faced’ if they hadn’t shared their concerns about her romance with Teddy prior to the vote.
