The 2022 London Marathon has arrived as members of the public and elite runners to take the streets of the English capital to participate in the biggest athletics event of the year. After months of relentless training in all types of weather in the English capital, the day of reckoning has finally arrived with over 50,000 runners expected to compete and take part in the 26.2-mile race.
The race will begin near Blackheath in Greenwich, with the route including landmarks such as the Cutty Sark, the Shard, the London Eye and Parliament before reaching the finish line at the Mall by Buckingham Palace.
In the men’s race, legendary athletes such as Mo Farah and Eliud Kipchoge will not be running this year, while the winner of the 2019 and 2020 women’s races, Brigid Kosgei, misses out too. Still, spectators watching from the streets and at home should be treated to a fine race as the most talented runners from all around the world gather for this famous event, which has been hosted in London since 1981.
