The Prime Minister used a televised coronavirus briefing this evening to outline his plans to lift most legal Covid restrictions from next Monday.
Stage 4 of the roadmap was due to take place on June 21 but was delayed by four weeks to allow more Brits to receive a second coronavirus vaccination.
Graphics shared with the public during the announcement tonight highlighted the importance of the Government’s delay and why the health crisis could be coming to an end.
Data shared from Public Health England indicated those who had two jabs saw projection against symptomatic infection against the Delta variant which is dominant across the UK drop by 78-80 percent.
Those with one dose see the risk of infection drop by32-38 percent.
At the same time, a single dose of the jab reduces the chance of hospitalisation by 69-88 percent.
Meanwhile, two doses of the drug drops hospitalisation risk by uptimes to 98 percent.
