Lauryn Goodman has lashed out at Kyle Walker after the Manchester City and England defender unveiled a pair of bespoke football boots bearing the names of each of his children – except their young son Kairo.

Walker, who is expected to represent his country at the European Championships this summer, shared an image of the tailored Puma boots with Instagram followers on Saturday, the penultimate day of the Premier League season.

But he sparked an outcry after followers noted that they bore the names and birthdates of Riaan, Reign and Roman – his three children with long-term partner Annie Kilner – while overlooking 13-month old Kairo, his son with Goodman.

The 30-year old footballer conceived his youngest child while involved in a short relationship with Goodman during a temporary split from Kilner in February 2020.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, a furious Goodman slammed Walker for using his young son as a stepping stone to attack her, while also condemning Kilner for her own perceived attacks.

Sharing a picture of Walker’s new boots, she wrote: ‘In a time where mental health has been at the forefront showing the implications and damages it can cause. Your “fathers” latest post has absolutely shocked not only me, but everyone to the core.

‘Things posted to the internet are there forever and Kairo has been abused by you & your partner for far too long. He is 1 years old. He is an INNOCENT baby. No matter anyone’s opinion on me. Kairo has done NOTHING & he does not deserve any of this let alone publicly.’

She added: ‘I speak for the many women that are silenced. Believe me when I say, there are SO many more women in my situation. More than you could ever imagine and a LOT of women have dm’d me finding comfort in me not being silenced. They praise me for standing my own ground and not hiding Kairo.

‘Why should he be hidden? To give you a quiet life? Never. There is keeping him private for his own protection (which is needed after the lies & stories that have been sold from your partner) and then there is ignoring his existence. The latter will never happen. He is not going anywhere. Get used to it.

A large number of the sportsman’s 1.8 million followers took to the comments section in droves to slam his ‘disgusting’ snub, prompting those in charge of his social media account to delete comments.

But as the comments piled up, England right-back Kyle, a native of Sheffield, eventually had the comments switched off altogether.

Another commented: ‘Absolutely disgusting missing 1 of your children off your boots, and now deleting any comments about it. Can’t handle the truth.’

‘No matter what circumstances are with the parents it is NEVER ok to disown a child, people suggest he had no choice and we don’t know the truth, but in my eyes if this was the case he’d still care about Kairo and wouldn’t allow those boots to made out of respect. I stand by you, from one parent to another (sic).’

‘I really liked how all the characters were named after cities. That’s how I chose his name, Kairo, after Egypt’s capital but spelt with a ‘K’ to make it unique.’

Lauryn said she has faced questions about why her son has his father’s surname even though she is raising him as a single mother.

She explained: ‘Single mums have questioned why Kairo’s surname is Walker because they say they don’t want to give the father the satisfaction of them having their surname. It was a mutual decision to name him Walker and I honoured that.

‘I appreciate there was speculation, but I don’t feel I constantly have to justify myself for any decisions that are made with our son.’

While Lauryn acknowledged being a single mother can be difficult at times, she finds ‘inner strength’ every time she looks at Kairo.
