Prince Charles’ recent “interaction” with his daughter-in-law, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge sparked a reaction from royal commentators. The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cambridge had been attending the G7 Summit along with other members of the Royal Family. Royally Obsessed podcast hosts Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie described what happened.
Ms Fiorito agreed: “I’ve noticed that a lot even with my own brother and sister-in-law.
“Now parents will see their own parents and say ‘Oh nana and grandpa’.”
The pair had been joined with their spouses and the Queen to welcome world leaders.
In a video of their arrival, Charles turns around to speak to Kate and Prince William.
Members of the Royal Family are required to address each other by their official titles, especially in public.
Prince Charles should therefore have been called ‘His Royal Highness’.
Typically the official title is used when first greeting a royal.
Thereafter ma’am or sir can be used to refer to them.
