Jurgen Klopp has made Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham his top transfer target for next summer, according to reports. But Liverpool will have to break the club’s transfer record to secure the youngster’s signature, it is claimed.
Klopp and Liverpool are hopeful that an £80million bid would be enough to persuade Dortmund to sell the midfield sensation next summer.
And Bellingham, who joined the German club from Birmingham City last summer, is likely to be tempted by a return to England despite his success in the Bundesliga.
The 18-year-old has been a revelation at Dortmund, already racking up 32 Bundesliga appearances and excelling in the club’s Champions League campaign last season.
And Liverpool, who lost key central midfielder Gini Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain this summer, see Bellingham as the perfect signing, according to a report in the Daily Star.

The Star report that Klopp has made Bellingham his top transfer target for next summer and wants the club to launch a move that could require a club-record fee.
Liverpool captain and fellow England international Jordan Henderson has been effusive in his praise for the youngster during the current international window.
“He’s a fantastic player,” Henderson told Sky Sports.
“Even at such a young age he looks ready to play in the big games. I watch him for Dortmund and the way he performs is outstanding.
“A year down the line he is only going to get better so he could have a big influence.”

And former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane was also hugely impressed with what he saw from Bellingham in England’s midfield during the 4-0 win over Andorra at the weekend, but urged for a caution.
“We have to be careful we don’t label him as a certain type of player,” Keane told ITV.
“He should be able to do everything and from what I’ve seen of him so far he has all that, he has quality.
“We know over the next few years if he’s ready to step up to the next level, playing week in week out for Dortmund, it’s natural he’ll only get better.”
