Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Friday, Klopp confirmed Thiago and Mane have had multiple days to get back to the top level, and have not been hindered with the symptom of excess fatigue which can follow Covid-19 contraction.

‘They are ready since five or six days ago in training,’ said Klopp.

‘Of course we assess that [fatigue] every day and we have our specific measurements.

‘We can measure if more they are fatigued than usual but both look really good to be honest.

‘We would never risk people like this. We tried to be as sensible as possible.’

Klopp has spent the past week showering praise on his Merseyside opponents, commending the work done by Carlo Ancelotti in making Everton a force to be reckoned with.

He added: ‘You don’t need to be a manager to see that, it’s clear they did good business and Carlo is a sensational manager.

‘It’s clear when he has time to build something he will do that, this team looks really good, I would like to say different but that’s not possible. So many teams did good business which made real sense and they all will improve.’

For the Toffees the match will mark a decade since they last won a domestic derby, though Klopp insists this statistic has never once been on the mind of his players during his tenure at Anfield.

When asked whether the record will matter heading into Saturday’s lunchtime clash, Klopp responded: ‘Not at all. Ten years for them, of course my point of view long may it continue but we’ve never thought about it once, never think “ah they don’t win anyway”, it’s hard work tomorrow for us.’
