Alzheimer’s Research UK revealed that this type of dementia accounts for two-thirds of cases in older people.

The common disease is attributed to the abnormal build-up of proteins, amyloid and tau, in the brain.

These proteins damage the brain cells, which leads to a loss of proper functioning.

“A loss of interest and enjoyment in day-to-day activities can often be one of the first changes,” the charity pointed out.
