Jessica Rowe 'mutes' Eddie Maguire on Millionaire Hot Seat before her husband's news bulletin

Jessica Rowe has shared the brutal way she deals with seeing her long-time rival Eddie McGuire pop up on television. 

Speaking to The Kyle And Jackie O Show on Thursday, the 51-year-old journalist admitted she switches the television to ‘mute’ whenever Eddie’s gameshow Millionaire Hot Seat is playing. 

During the interview show, host Kyle Sandilands asked Jessica whether she’d allow former Eddie to ‘apologise’ to her on-air, fifteen years after he threatened to ‘bone’ her from Nine’s Today show back in 2006.

‘I don’t think he would [apologise],’ Jessica said. 

‘I think he might!’ Kyle interjected, adding: ‘He might have grown up as well.’ 

Remaining diplomatic, Jessica replied: ‘You know what? I wish him well in the sense of, we’ve all moved on.’

However, Jessica simply couldn’t deny that she still holds some lingering resentment towards Eddie. 

‘There’s that particular part of me that’s like, ‘no!’… I mean, we still mute him when he comes on before Petey’s news,’ she admitted. 

Her comment was in reference to Eddie’s current role as host of Millionaire Hot Seat, which airs before the Nine News, presented by Jessica’s husband of 17 years, Peter Overton, 55.

Eddie, who the CEO of Channel Nine at the time, infamously threatened to ‘bone’ her from the show during a 2006 meeting with the network’s executives.

The humiliating comments ultimately led to Jessica leaving the network in May 2007, following her maternity leave. 

In a 2016 interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Jessica revealed Eddie’s comments ultimately led to ‘a very dark period’ in her life.

‘That year was a terrible time in my life and it was not helped by public abuse, abuse from within the network that I worked at and abuse from someone who was in charge of that particular network,’ she told the newspaper.
