‘I’m making sure I have regular colonoscopies,’ Jessica said.
‘I began having them younger at around 40 because of the increased risk factors in my family. My dad John who’s 73 was diagnosed with bowel cancer at 55 and my mum’s dad died of bowel cancer.’
She added that she endures the test – and the prep beforehand – because it can ‘save your life.’

‘Sure, the idea is irksome, but it could save your life,’ Jess said.
‘The last time I did a colonoscopy I drank the laxative prep in a wine glass thinking it might make it slightly more palatable.’
Jessica revealed her cancer fears in a Q&A which marked her collaboration with Meat and Livestock Australia.
Meat and Livestock Australia are honouring Australian butchers this winter.

Jessica said that she always likes to provide nutritious meals for her family, husband Peter Overton and their two daughters Allegra, 14, and Giselle, 12, and tends to opt for mince meat.
‘I also learnt through MLA (Meat and Livestock Australia) that lean mince actually has the same nutritional value of more expensive cuts, so it’s really healthy,’ Jessica said.
‘Whether it’s tacos, Mexican in a pot or shepherd’s pie, I love it.’
She jokingly added: ‘The girls love it, and Pete is “getting used” to it considering I’m not the world’s greatest cook. But he does eat my meals, if he didn’t he’d go hungry!’

Indeed earlier this month, Jessica underwent a routine colonoscopy, where doctors examine the bowel with a camera to detect any abnormalities, concerns or changes.
She shared a Boomerang video of herself holding the prep in a wine glass and wrote: ‘Bottom’s up!’
‘So important to get these health checks. I’ve got a family history of bowel cancer so this is my third one.’
She finished: ‘See your GP for more info.’
